Individual architects joining the AIA become members of the national, state and local components, each offering valuable benefits.

Architect Members
Individuals with an architectural license from a U.S. licensing authority are eligible for Architect membership.

Associate Members
Associate membership is open to individuals who meet one of the following criteria:
- Professional degree in architecture learn about a special offer for new graduates.
- Currently work under the supervision of an architect.
- Currently enrolled in the Intern Development Program (AXP) and working toward licensure.
- Faculty member in a university program in architecture.

Emeritus Members
Individuals who have had an architectural license from a U.S. licensing authority for at least 15 years and are retired and at least age 70 are eligible for Emeritus membership.
