In 1945, George Nakashima opened his woodworking business simply to earn a living using the skills he had learned as an Eagle Scout in the Pacific Northwest, as an architect in the Far East, and as a woodworker in the Idaho desert.
We continue to custom-mill sustainably harvested hardwoods—maximizing both yield and their innate beauty—and to select the resulting planks individually for each project. We strive to create the “antiques of the future” as a collaborative, integrated process throughout which designer and maker work hand-in-hand, now guided by Mira Nakashima’s keen sensibility.
Join us for a tour of the George Nakashima Woodworkers studios and grounds.
Maximum of 25 people for the tour so make sure to reserve your spot!
Tour will include walking so make sure to wear appropriate walking shoes and shoes that are easily removable. We will walk the grounds, approximately 9 acres (.75 mi.) Great opportunity to meet and speak with Mira Nakashima, daughter of George Nakashima.
Tour takes place rain or shine.
